JAFZA (Jebel Ali Freezone)

Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (JAFZA) is one of the oldest business networks in the Middle East. Located in the southwest part of the city-state; JAFZA was first established in 1985 with office units and expanded in 1990 with light industrial facilities. JAFZA is also the first free trade zone in Dubai and the place to obtain ISO certification in 1996.

Types of Licenses Available for Company Registration in JAFZA

Jebel Ali Free Zone issues various types of business permits:

General Trading License

This license allows the holder to import, distribute and store all goods according to JAFZA rules and regulations.

Trading License

This license permits the holder to import, export, distribute and store the goods specified in the license.

Industrial License

This license allows the holder to import raw materials, manufacture certain products, and export the final product to any country.

Service License

This license grants the holder the right to provide the services specified in the license within the free zone. This type of service must comply with the parent company license issued by the Ministry of Economy or the Municipality of the relevant emirate in the UAE

National Industrial License

This license is for manufacturing companies with at least 51% ownership or interest with citizens/residents of AGCC (Gulf Cooperation Council). The added value of items in the Free Zone is at least 40%. This business license gives the holder the same status as a local or AGCC in the UAE.

Requirements to Incorporate a Business in JAFZA

  • Companies in the free zone need between two and five shareholders.
  • The creation of a free trade zone requires shareholders.
